Overview
This one day training programme will provide you with lots of ideas and practical examples to help you to develop and enhance your school’s provision. The day will focus on the four dimensions of community:
- the school as a community;
- the locality as a community;
- the UK community;
- the global community.
Participants will understand how schools contribute to community cohesion through teaching, learning and the curriculum; equity and excellence and engagement and extended services. At the end of your training day, you will be given up to date information and documentation and the relevant templates to use in your own school.
Outcomes
Define what community cohesion means for your school.
Understand current legislation and how it affects your school.
Review current approaches to promoting community cohesion and celebrating diversity.
Know what information you already hold about your community and what you need in addition to this.
Understand the issues facing the local and wider community.
Plan towards enhanced community cohesion.
Evaluate the impact of your policy.
Prepare schools for Ofsted inspection in relation to community cohesion.
