Course duration Half day - 9:00 - 12:30 Who is the course suitable for? Designated safeguarding staff and those with a safeguarding role in schools. Course overview It is a statutory requirement for designated child protection staff to update their knowledge of key legislation and guidance and maintain their ability to act on concerns; S17 and S47 investigations, the Assessment Framework, recognition and response to significant harm/ child in need, responding to disclosures, sharing information and recording, making referrals, awareness of risk factors, allegations against school staff, key elements of making schools safer, promoting effective professional practice and advising others. Outcomes - Update their knowledge of key legislation and guidance regarding concerns about a child's safety or welfare.
- Update on the role and responsibility of designated person.
- Developing methods to overcome the obstacles to staff reporting concerns.
- Making appropriate decisions about action to take when informed of a range of concerns about a child.
- Discuss the issues in connection with recording and sharing of information, including confidentiality issues.
