What will you learn?
As a governor, you can make a real difference in helping your school provide the best possible outcomes for each and every pupil. The importance of your role in reviewing the head teacher's decision to exclude a pupil cannot be underestimated, both in terms of its impact on the pupil concerned and on the school community as a whole.
What will it cover?
This training session will provide you with a practical opportunity to examine the key components of the exclusion process with which you need to be familiar and provide an update on new legislation which includes proposals which will mean schools will be responsible for making provision for permanently excluded pupils (rather than at present the LA) and for the examination results of permanently excluded pupils to count against the school's results for the relevant cohort.
