Course duration Half day - 09:30 - 12:30 Who is the course suitable for? Healthy eating leads or senior managers in schools and children’s centres. What will you learn? A food policy covers food provided by schools as well as the healthy eating and practical food education taught within and outside the curriculum. This session supports schools to develop their policy; considering all elements of food in schools and how a consistent whole school approach can support pupils’ healthy eating.
Attendees will be given a food policy template and food audit tools. What will it cover? Participant will be able to:
- Understand what is involved in writing or reviewing a food policy.
- Plan how to develop a policy in the school.
- Explore elements of food policy and identify good practice and ways forward for the school.
- Understand the legal duty of schools to provide food that meets the DFE standards for school food.
