Course duration 1 day - 09:30 - 15:30 Who is the course suitable for? Teaching assistants, parent helpers and adults other than teachers What will you learn? This course is suitable for teaching assistants and adults other than teachers who support teachers to deliver cooking activities in primary schools. Participants will gain practical cooking skills and an understanding of healthy eating and how this is covered in the primary curriculum or as part of the extended school curriculum. Staff will be given practical guidance on how to effectively plan food activities that can be delivered across the curriculum. The day will also consider methods of classroom management and organisation when undertaking food activities. What will it cover? - Gain an understanding of the curriculum and how to support teachers in the delivery of the food activities the curriculum.
- Explore planning and delivering effective extra curricular food activities.
- Increase confidence and competence in teaching about cooking, food and healthy eating.
- Understand how to increase pupils’ knowledge of diet, healthy eating, food hygiene and safety.
- Consider the progression of practical skills across the key stages.
