Overview

This one and a half day (10 hour) training programme provides successful approaches to integrating new EAL students into mainstream classrooms, generating staff confidence and ensuring pupil progress. It covers the social and linguistic issues faced by the students and shows how to implement Ofsted guidelines to engage all new arrivals, leading to greater motivation and better results. This training also provides ideas for developing innovative and inclusive teaching styles.

Outcomes

Apply a range of practical strategies to enable pupils new to English to participate and achieve in mainstream classes.
Have a greater understanding of linguistic and social issues relating to recent arrivals new to English.
Promote a positive whole school ethos with respect to diversity.
Increase your understanding of some of the theoretical aspects underpinning good practice and how to apply them in the classroom.
