What will you learn?
Governors at every school will find themselves having to deal with the formal processes around staffing issues, such as misconduct, capability, absence etc.
Although these cases happen infrequently, it is important that they are managed well and fairly. This session will briefly set out the framework in which GBs operate as employers and explain the general processes around investigations, hearings and appeals. It will offer a workshop approach to the practical issues and challenges which arise during hearings, based on case studies.

The session will mainly be used to consider a range of case studies, and will offer a workshop approach to the practical issues and challenges which arise during hearings. Suitable for all governors involved in staffing matters, it will offer the chance to reflect on any experiences to date; and will provide further information and guidance for undertaking this important role.
