Overview
This one and a half day (10 hour) programme discovers how you can help your pupils to develop their ‘feelings talk’ to enhance their academic learning and their social skills. Pupils who are underachieving often do not have the words to describe how they feel, what they think and how their feelings affect their thinking and learning. With research highlighting the link between young offenders and language and communication needs plus the fact that 50% - 80% of pupils arrive at primary school without the language to learn and make new friends, this valuable programme develops awareness of how feelings and language are related to thinking and behaviour and how you can control these.
Outcomes
- Know and apply some of the recent research on emotional intelligence;
- Promote your whole school ethos to improve emotional well-being among staff, pupils and their families;
- Use classroom strategies and SEAL materials to ensure your pupils become increasingly ‘self-directed’ learners.
