Course duration 5 day programme of 3 tutor lead days, 1 or 2 days of distance learning. Who is the course suitable for? Experienced and new leaders, including headteachers, deputy and assistant headteachers, heads of department and subject leaders and all those responsible for carrying out lesson observations. What will you learn? - How to collect and record evidence to make secure judgements under the 2012 Ofsted framework
- Methods for more rigorous evaluation of pupils’ progress through work scrutiny, discussion with pupils and consideration of performance data
- How to ensure that feedback to teachers is both developmental, constructive and productive
- What Ofsted inspectors look for during inspections
- Best practice from peers from a range of schools and backgrounds
What will it cover? - Observing a lesson and recording information
- Grading specific elements of the teaching and learning experience using the Ofsted criteria: achievement, the quality of teaching; leadership and management; behaviour and safety
- Recognising good and outstanding lessons
- Talking to pupils about their learning
- Analysing work - data analysis and using performance data
- Structured opportunities to work with other schools and school leaders
All participants receive a certificate of course accreditation from Cambridge Education and the British Accreditation Council following the final assessment.
