Who is the course suitable for?
Headteachers, deputy and assistant headteachers, CPD training managers and all those responsible for delivering consistent and high quality lesson observation training to staff.
Course Overview
Developed by experienced inspectors, a one day programme and resource pack which will enable staff to observe and evaluate the qualities of good teaching and the consequent successful learning. A coaching model for recording observations and structuring post-observation discussion is used to enable teachers to take responsibility for defining actions for further improvement. The resource pack includes a wide range of INSET training activities and materials including DVDs for use in school.
Outcomes
- Identify and analyse the qualities of good teaching that lead to successful learning.
- Use classroom observation as part of a reflective, developmental approach to CPD.
- Develop a coaching approach to classroom observation and post-observation discussion.
- See and understand the use of the Ofsted grading system.
- Support moving lessons from satisfactory to good and good to outstanding.
- Use the GTSL resource material to demonstrate effective teaching to staff, parents and governors.
